DUA FOR PARENTS
To raise us, our parents have made so many sacrifices. We will never be able to repay their generosity. We may, however, try our best to respect and care for them.
رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
Rabbir hamhuma kama rabbayanee sagheera
My Lord, have mercy on them, as they raised me when I was a child.
One of the nicest things you can do, even if they are no longer among us, is to continuously offer up honest prayers for them. We are urged to continue praying for our parents by the Prophet s.a.w. Yes, their benefits from prayers will not end.
We can pray a wide variety of duas for our parents. It could possibly be any prayer that is uttered from the bottom of the heart. Allah is able to hear even the smallest part of our cries.
What We Have to Do to Get More Blessings From Parents?
Show Compassion Towards Your Parents
In Islam, showing kindness and respect to parents is considered one of the most important acts of worship. The Quran and Sunnah emphasize the importance of treating parents with love, kindness, and respect and encourage Muslims to honour and obey their parents throughout their lives. Here are some basic acts of kindness that Muslims can do to show their love and respect to their parents:
• Speaking kindly: Muslims should speak to their parents in a kind and respectful manner, avoiding harsh or disrespectful language. They should also avoid raising their voices or speaking rudely to their parents, even in moments of frustration or disagreement.
Allah s.w.t. says in the Quran:
Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour
• Spending time with them: Muslims should spend quality time with their parents, whether it’s going out for a walk, having a meal together, or simply sitting and talking. Spending time with parents is a great way to show love and appreciation and to strengthen family bonds.
• Serve Your Parents: Muslims should always care the needs of their parents in any way they can, whether it be by preparing meals, taking care of errands, or helping out around the house. This deed of kindness expresses gratitude, love, and respect for everything parents have done for their kids.
• Taking care of them: Muslims have a responsibility beings a child to support their parents, whether it be materially or in other ways. This covers covering their living expenses, any necessary medical bills, and any other demands they might have.
According to Allah SWT.
Prophet (PBUH) said, “Let him be humbled into dust! Let him be humbled into dust! Let him be humbled into dust!” It was said: “Who, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “The one who sees his parents in old age, either one or both of them, and does not honor them and serve them and does not attain Paradise by virtue of their pleasure.”
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported
• Prayers For Parents Well-Being: Muslims should always offer prayers for their parents, asking Allah to grant them prosperity, pleasure, and good health. During their regular prayers or at any other time, Muslims are also able to offer prayers (dua) for their parents.
(Surah Al-Isra, 17:23)
When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: A continuous charity, knowledge that others benefited from, and a pious son who (continues to) pray for him
“رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ”
“Rabbana-ghfir li wa liwalidayya wa lil-mu’mineena yawma yaqumul hisab”
Translation: “Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.”
